I am a freelance journalist and radio producer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which contrary to popular misconceptions, is actually in the United States.

I have been a journalist for 20 years, mostly in print.  As a business reporter and editor at the San Antonio Business Journal, New Orleans CityBusiness and the New Mexico Business Weekly, I covered numerous beats, including real estate, economic development, law, education,  tourism, the creative economy, philanthropy and the film/media industries. My work has also appeared in Art Business News, New Orleans Magazine and New Mexico Journeys.

I am currently working in television and radio. I host Morning Edition at KUNM in Albuquerque where I also create newscasts and do interviews for the show “Women’s Focus” and host a global music show. I also work as a correspondent for KNME/ New Mexico PBS, where I previously produced and hosted the show Public Square and produced the weekly public affairs show  New Mexico in Focus.

I am the former president of the Journalism & Women Symposium and my talk on women and the media for TEDxABQ in 2011 is now on the TED.com national site. That prompted the Albuquerque Journal’s Sage Magazine to do a story on me. I did a follow-up talk for TEDxABQ Women in 2012.

I have received awards over  the years for  investigative pieces, arts coverage, environmental stories, profiles, breaking news and the portrayal of women. I was also named outstanding small business journalist in New Mexico by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s New Mexico office.
